The forklift is a material handling equipment used to lift and move loads from one place to another. Each and every forklift component has a specific function. Different parts could be used to transport the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the parts which lift and lower the load. There are various types of masts for raising loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is situated inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the rear of the truck.
Cab
Situated in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated within the cab.
Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the biggest parts of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are situated at the rear so as to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
